Food also can be stored if one learns the fine art of canning. Indeed, there are many very good instruction books online that will explain in detail how to can food stuff. But ordinaily, canning your own food is hot, hard work, and the food ordinarily lastes for a couple years before it needs to be replenished. In other words, food saftey becomes an issue.

No one really knows exactly how long a disaster will last. While our elected officials continue to tell us how much better the economy is getting, we continually watch as the price of food races unemployment rates to all time record highs!
